Book Review - Knit Knack Kit by Kris Percival

Knit Knack Kit: Simple Instructions and Tools For 25 Terrific Knitting Projects by Kris Percival

Knit Knack is actually a box set that includes a beginning knitting book, knitting pattern cards, and a set of circular needles with stitch marker and a tapestry needle.

The knitting book includes a getting started section with an introduction to various knitting supplies such as needles, yarn, and other miscellaneous knitting items.

There is also a section on how to knit that includes

  • holding the needles
  • positioning the yarn
  • casting on
  • knitting and purling in both the american and continental style
  • weaving in loose ends
  • binding off
  • increasing
  • decreasing
  • yarn overs
  • knitting in the round
  • making seams
  • picking up stitches
  • gauge
  • blocking

It also has a knitting resource section and knitting abbreviations

There are also 25 knitting projects included on individual cards. Each card has a picture of the completed project on the front and the instructions on knitting the project on the inside.

Projects Include:

  • a bookmark
  • a plain and ribbed scarf patterns
  • dishcloth
  • mittens
  • a ribbed hat knitted in the round
  • slippers
  • baby booties
  • pillow covers
  • change purse
  • cell phone cozy
  • baby sweater and blanket
  • socks
  • lacy shawl
  • leg warmers

I like that each project is on its own individual card rather then in the book. That way I can slip the project card I'm working on in my knitting book rather then having to carry along a big bulky book. And the small knitting book included in the set doesn't take up much room either.

I think this would make a great gift for a new knitter or knitter wanna be. Just team it up with enough yarn for one of the projects and your recipient will be ready to knit.

Kris Percival also has Knitting to Go Deck that includes 25 more knitting projects on individual cards.
